How much does counselling cost?

Therapy is charged at a rate of £60 per session. Session frequency can vary where appropriate, but sessions are typically held on a weekly basis to start.

How many sessions will I need?

I see therapy as a collaborative process. While some services offer a set number of sessions, I generally work on an open-ended basis. Following the first session, we'll regularly review the work at a frequency that matches your pace, typically every 4-6 weeks. Some folks come for a short time, 6 to 12 sessions, to focus on a specific challenge. While others find the rhythm of long-term regular sessions supportive for their needs and goals.

Do you take insurance?

At present, I don’t work directly with insurance providers in the UK. Sessions are self-funded, with payment due in advance. Some insurers may reimburse you for out-of-network therapy. Your client portal will have a record of all session invoices, which you can access 24/7.

Do you offer reduced rates?

Yes. I offer a limited number of reduced-rate spaces to help make therapy more accessible. These spaces are managed through a waitlist. If cost is a concern, please let me know, and I’ll be happy to discuss options or signpost you to other local low-cost counselling services.

What is your cancellation policy?

In alignment with the payment policy, I kindly ask that you notify me of cancellations at least 48 hours in advance. You'll receive a reminder email 48 hours before your scheduled session to help with this process. Two days' notice helps support flexibility for all clients of Willow & Thyme.

For sessions cancelled within the 48-hour window, the full session fee remains due. That being said, we will always prioritise rescheduling sessions within the same week, where possible.

How long does a therapy session last?

Therapy sessions last 50-60 minutes.

What happens in a therapy session?

Each session offers the opportunity to reflect on what matters most to you. Some people come with a clear focus, while others wait to see what unfolds. We work at your pace, whether that’s through talking, emotional expression, silence, or noticing how things feel in the moment. I listen closely, ask thoughtful questions, and offer gentle reflections to help you explore your thoughts, feelings, and patterns.

The aim is to find a sense of safety within yourself, so that we can begin to challenge long-held beliefs and narratives that may be ready to shift or change.

Do you offer online therapy?

Yes, I offer telehealth counselling both online and over the phone. Online therapy via Zoom is integrated into the same system where you manage sessions and invoices. You do not need to register separately for Zoom.

What if therapy doesn't feel helpful?

It’s completely normal to wonder whether therapy is making a difference. Progress can take time, and at different points it may feel slow or unclear. If something isn’t working, I encourage you to bring it into our sessions; we’ll talk openly and adapt the pace, focus, or style of our work.

Therapy is a collaborative process, and your feedback is essential. Sometimes it takes a few sessions to find a rhythm, or we may discover that a different approach would serve you better. Often, we learn just as much, if not more, from what doesn’t feel helpful as from what does.

If you or I decide another therapist or modality might be a better fit, I’ll support you in that process and, where possible, provide referrals. All stages of therapy, even when they feel uncomfortable, should always remain a safe and supportive space for you.

Is therapy confidential?

Confidentiality is a foundational aspect of therapeutic work. Information gathered concerning your identity, personal details, and the content of the work is held with respect and trust. Sessions may not be recorded without prior agreement from both client and therapist.

Confidentiality is limited by the following legal and ethical exceptions:

  • Risk of harm to yourself or others
  • Drug trafficking
  • Money laundering
  • Terrorism
  • Safeguarding children and/or vulnerable adults
  • Court order
